Pixiwoo make up course September 2015!

Hi Everyone!
Well, you had better grab a cuppa, this is a long one!

What an amazing week. I have done many beauty courses but never one where people make such good friends after just 5 days. They run a few a year but apply quickly as they book up fast! A normal day if we didn't run over was 10-4.

The course is in Norwich UK in a studio pretty central to the city centre. its easy to get to and there is plenty of places to stay if your traveling from afar (which most people did!)

The course is taught by Nicola and Samantha Chapman, and helped by Stacey and Amy. Stacey was pretty pregnant on the course but did a great job helping us all when we got stuck.

Day one started out with introductions and general chit chat of where we are all from. Sam then did a demo on Amy for a natural make up look.

Then we would normally break for lunch (but we ran over a little) so we went for lunch first then came back and Paul did my make up for me (Great hairdresser at the crop shop in Norwich everyone!)  I then shotgun Sam so I could do her make up which was slightly daunting but realised it was the best thing to do as she was there to help me along if i needed tips & tricks, and she is so lovely!

Day two - BRIDAL!
The day I was most looking forward to as I am aiming my work to be towards brides and bridal parties and occasion make up.
Again we met in the morning to watch a demo and then got straight to doing each others make up with lunch in-between.
We went through more of a business side of the course with Sam talking through prices, kit, lighting etc, whilst Nic did the demo. It was really interesting learning both sides if you want to make it more of a business rather than a hobby.

Day 3 - Drag

Or more, the fuller make up nowadays! Pretty much a fuller face of make up now, heavier foundation, stuck down brows, big big dramatic eyes, loads of colour and more! we watched half of Stacey's face get transformed including the most amazing drag lashes!
The make up that got done on me was absolutely amazing, by Rachel Collins. I need to practise mine, a lot!

Day 4 - Era/period

This day started out looking through books and magazines and noting down specific points from each make up look. For example who to research for 20's make up, 30's..and so on.
We went through all of the eras from the 20's to the 2000's noting down, singers, actresses, make up artists, books to use, music videos etc.
Then got on to choose an era to work on. I chose Marilyn monroe as its a classic look and I wanted to work on my gel liner and flawless finish.

Day 5 - Personal improvement
We got straight on as it was our last day (sob!) and all chose whatever we wanted to work on most, I chose natural/bridal/smokey eye as its where I was struggling.
Nic then taught me how to do my eyebrows beautifully, I didn't want to wash them off as mine won't look like that for a long time!

Saying goodbye to everyone was pretty hard, in 5 days we were all so close, having a laugh and sharing tip and tricks. The rest of the day was filled with everyone taking photos and adding and tagging everyone on social media.

The days flew by so quickly and it was a little overwhelming with choosing products as there was about a billion of them! (maybe not that much..)

If your thinking about doing a make up course for a career or even a hobby to get better skills, definitely look into doing the pixiwoo 5 day intensive course. It was such a good experience and education. I learnt so much in just 5 days, now I'm aiming to get as many faces as I can to practise on, and be the best I can be!

For information of the course you need to contact Stacey at

Although, I'm not sure if she is working at the moment as she has just given birth to a beautiful baby girl! Congratulations Stacey!

Keep in touch guys! I love seeing all of your pictures online of your creations!
